
Timothy Gordon 'Whitey" Dyment

Longtime Sterling resident Timothy Gordon "Whitey" Dyment, 56, died Feb. 16, 2009, at home.
A memorial celebration was held at the Elks Club Lodge, 205 Barnacle Way in Kenai. His cremated remains were scattered.
Mr. Dyment was born Feb. 10, 1953, in Wurzburg, Germany, to George and Elizabeth (Field) Dyment. He attended The Hinckley School in Hinckley, Maine during the 1970’s.
A resident of Valdez and Anchorage before moving to Sterling in 1980,
Mr. Dyment owned Whitey's Music Shoppe at the Red Diamond Center in Soldotna and enjoyed writing music. His other interests included turtles, collecting diverse ornaments, good food and canoeing. Mr. Dyment was an avid reader of nonfiction and had an unacknowledged green thumb, his family wrote.
"Whitey loved, lived, wrote and shared music," they wrote. "He was a compassionate mentor and friend to each who strolled into his store and life. He loved his family and friends. He was truly one-of-a-kind and will be remembered forever."
Mr. Dyment was preceded in death by his wife, Teresa Wallace Dyment, and his parents.
He is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth Cathleen Dyment of Sterling; companion, Angela G. Jamieson of Kotzebue; sisters, Andrea Dyment-Lambdin and her husband, Mo; Ann Maltby and her husband, Mike; and Nancy Dyment, all of Maine; mother-in-law, Bettie Wallace of Sterling; niece, Hannah Maltby and nephew, George Maltby, both of Maine; great-nephew, Valentino Cartonio of Maine; and numerous friends.
